Sling Yer Hook

I’ve been in the wars again.

Sadly nothing glamorous. No last stand against the howling hordes of evil. No fight to the death with a foe both despicable and admirable.

Tripping over my own feet after a midnight visit to the bathroom saw me earthing myself fingers first and then crunching down hard onto my right shoulder. For a few seconds I’d feared I’d broken some bones and experienced that awful pain that, rather than loosen your vocal chords, actually constricts them fully closed. Thus I was flapping about in silent agony like a freshly caught fish until the pain subsided.

Thankfully no broken bones (that I can tell) and my wife has sent me to work this morning with my arm expertly enfolded in the supporting embrace of a sling.

I’m striking as many heroic gestures as I can and learning to pee with one hand.

Though not at the same time obviously.

Sorry to hear it, Steve. Hope your arm heals soon.

How did your wife get on at the dentist?

Thanks, TimeWarden. The visit to the dentist wasn't too bad - the dentist fitted some kind of patch or tooth bandage (!) over the exposed nerve that was causing the problem. It's only a temporary fix but should hopefully last until after the baby is born. At that point Karen will need to go back to acquire a more permanent fix...

P.S. I'm now out of the sling... it was driving me up the wall. Arm sore but functioning normally...

It's weird but whenever I have a fall everything seems to go into slow-motion and afterwards I feel such a divy because I should have been able to stop myself falling.

I know what you mean. I had enough time to think to myself, "This is really going to hurt," just before I hit the ground. Either time slows down or our mental processes speed up. Pity I don't have that facility when I'm at work!

Hope you are feeling better...

1. Did you put ice on it?
2. Did you elevate it?
3. Any pins and needles
4. can you make a fist?

Sorry the doctor bit kicking in....

Thanks Janete - wow! I'm impressed with the official sounding list! No to the ice and the elevation. A little pins and needles at first but completely gone now. Definitely yes, I can make a fist!

No push-ups for a day or two though!
