Back To Grotwarts

I’m experiencing a harsh reality check today.

I have dragged myself out of Hogwarts, stuffed my pockets full of handkerchiefs and paracetymol and have returned to my place of work there to press my runny nose back to the grindstone.

In short I have swapped my wand and my invisibility cloak for a cheap biro and a clipboard. Swapped the ever present evil of Lord Voldermort and his murderous designs for my local authority boss and his complaints about the toilets.

*Sigh*

If only it were really possible to hit someone with a Bat Bogey Hex.

Try sneezing loudly and explosively whenever your boss comes into the room.....he might send you back home!

You big brave lad, you! Go forth and sneeze on them all I say, be generous with your snot and phlegm.
At least you'll have the lunch room to yourself. (Speedy recovery wishes by the way, will send the Bogey-Removal Fairy round ASAP).

Ally, I've already tried that along with hawking up my lungs on his desk. As long as the precious toilets are all functioning as they should he doesn't really care...

Inchy, I'm completing a marathon read through of all 7 Harry Potter books - a bat bogey hex is a curse that is mentioned a few times in the penultimate book (the film of which is currently in production).

Amanda, I could certainly do with a visit from the Bogey Removal Fairy - it would save me a fortune in man sized tissues. And desk wipes.

Ah, you're talking about the chasm between domestic drudgery and flights of fantasy. World's apart!

TimeWarden, couldn't have put it better myself. I am feeling completely out of love with work at the moment!

Daisy: you're quite right - though seeing other people snuffling won't give me quite as much pleasure as seeing people being attacked by their own bogeys. But hey... beggars can't be choosers!

Blimey you've been suffering a lot this year Steve!

Hope you're also dosing yourself with donkey-strength Vit-C's - which can def make a cold last half as long.

So you're STILL not better??! Dear oh dear! Shame Mr Potter himself couldn't magic away your illness...

You know I have only read the very first HP book and that's it! Shameful!

I am getting better, OC, just very slowly...!

I resisted the HP books for ages and then when the 7th came out I bought the boxed set. I am now addicted. Looks like all those 12 year old kids were right!

An addict you are!! I had heard they get better and more adult. Maybe one day I will succumb...

Talking of better, hope you're 100% soon!

You heard right OC - the first three are very much kid's books though there is enough there to keep an adult entertained. After that though the themes become darker and far more interesting... tbe books start to work on 2 levels which I'm guessing is why they've hooked as many adults as children. I really do recommend them - they're an excellent read.
